East Riding of Yorkshire Council has announced it must save £60 million over the next four years and is asking local residents to have their say on how best to spend its money.

The council, which provides a wide range of services, faces a conundrum as to which ones to cut - whether its alcohol treatment programmes or subsidized bus services or recycling schemes or play areas in parks, among many other services.

Leader of the council, Coun Stephen Parnaby OBE, said the authority was under pressure to deliver quality services on a tight budget. He said: “It’s always interesting to hear how residents feel we should prioritise spending and we feel it’s important to involve them and feed their opinions into our budget-setting process.”
