Take a look around Paul and Jo Robinsons open garden at 55 Amy Johnson Avenue between 1pm and 5pm on Sunday

Inspired by the success of a similar event, and determined to support the charity after some of their relatives were diagnosed with cancer, they will be telling visitors about the secrets of their garden.

Paul who has given hundreds of talks around East Yorkshire as the ‘Laughing Gardener’, will be selling a selection of plants and also answering questions at 2.30pm.

There will also be a children’s quiz, raffles and a cake stall.

Paul said: “We want people to enjoy visiting our garden. We have a small but colourful garden which promotes wildlife like bees, butterflies and hoverflies.

“Gardens are wonderful therapy for us all and have a calming presence and the beauty of flowers and their perfume only inspires gardeners more.

“Jo has designed the back garden and the driveway as she has a brillant eye for colours and arrangement whereas I am the plantsman of our gardening relationship, even though Jo has a lot of knowledge of plants.”

“Hope to see you all on Sunday and let’s raise money to beat cancer. Cancer is an awful disease.

“Hopefully you will enjoy our garden as much as we
do.”

The garden, at 55 Amy Johnson Avenue will be open between 1pm and 5pm on Sunday. Guests will be asked for a donation as an entry fee.

Paul added: “My mum has been diagnosed with cancer and starts treatment in mid June. She is a fighter and is postive about her treatment and she will beat cancer.

“The emotions she has been through are unreal and as a family we give our full support.”
