What a difference a weekend makes.
The first picture shows Charlie McCloud in his Bridlington School uniform on Friday, and the second shows his dramatic transformation for the new school week.
It wasn’t just because the 13-year-old fancied a new look – he shaved his locks to raise more than £500 in memory of family friend who died five years ago.
Each year, a fund-raising day for Nealey Nicholson is held in Bridlington, around her birthday, and Charlie decided he wanted to play a key role.
Mum Jo said: “It was a massive thing for him to do and I am really proud of him.
“Charlie has had this hairstyle for about three years, and it was very distinctive, but a year ago he said he was going to do something this year for Nealey’s day.”
Friends, relatives and neighbours sponsored him and he collected hundreds of pounds of pledges before Saturday’s event at Bridlington Sports and Community Club at Dukes Park.
And mum Jo took charge of the razor to do the honours herself.
“I was in tears and shaking as I was doing it,” she admitted, and she is now taking a while to get used to Charlie’s new appearance.
The money he raised will be given to Yorkshire Cancer Research.
