Girl attacked for mobile phone in Bridlington

A 16-YEAR-OLD girl had her handbag stolen in a violent late night street robbery - and police in Bridlington are appealing for information.

The 16-year-old victim was walking along St Johns Avenue from Quay Road at around 11.37pm, followed by three people who police believe assaulted her and stole her handbag.

The girl sustained bruising to her stomach and head as a result of the attack.

An 18-year-old woman, an 18-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy were arrested in connection with the assault and released on bail pending further enquiries.

Police investigations are continuing and Bridlington detective sergeant Tom Napier said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen 3 people following the girl along St. Johns Avenue from Quay Road.

“The attack happened close to Bessingby Road, and would have been at approximately 11.45pm.

“I know the victim screamed out, and I believe this may have attracted attention either from residents or passers by. If someone did see this incident or knows anything about it please contact us.”
