A FORMER Bridlington mum of two who aborted her own baby within a week of his due date has been jailed for eight years.

Sarah Catt, 35, bought drugs on the internet which induced her labour when her pregnancy was nearly full-term.

She claimed the boy was stillborn and that she buried his body but no evidence of the child was ever found, Leeds Crown Court heard.

Catt had pleaded guilty to the offence at an earlier hearing, and was sentenced at Leeds today (Monday September 17). She has been ordered to serve four years in custody and will then be released on licence for the remainder of her sentence.

Catt, maiden name Moran, who gave an address in Sherburn, North Yorkshire in court, worked as a barmaid in Bridlington but is believed to have left her home town around eleven years ago.
