Fatal collision on B1253 at Butterwick/Langtoft crossroads - Malton motorcycle rider died at scene

Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision which happened at 2.46pm on Friday 6 June.

A motorcyclist died after he was involved in a collision with a car on the B1253 at the Butterwick/Langtoft crossroads.

A police spokesperson said: “The collision is believed to have occurred as the motorcycle, a Ducatti Panigale, was travelling east bound along the B1253.

“The car, a Toyota Avensis was said to be travelling northbound along Butterwick Road to the junction with the B1253 prior to the collision occurring at the crossroads which resulted in the motorcyclist suffering fatal injuries.”

The motorcyclist who died at the scene is now named as Paul George ELLA (53) from the Malton area of North Yorkshire.

A rear seat passenger in the Toyota Avensis, a 95 year old woman, sustained a broken collar bone for which she received treatment at Scarborough hospital. The driver and a front seat passenger suffered minor injuries including shock and bruising.

A 69 year old man involved in the collision, and who was arrested shortly afterwards has since been released on police bail as enquiries continue.

Police are now appealing for further information to ascertain the circumstances of the collision and ask anyone who may have witnessed it to contact Humberside Police on 101 quoting log number 407 of 6 June 2014.
