The family and friends of a man with terminal cancer have already raised over £4,500 to grant a Barnsley man his final wish.
Andy Feast, 31, of Thurnscoe, Barnsley has fought Lymphoblastic Leukaemia since March 2014, but has now been told it is terminal.
Family friend Donna Hart said she wanted to raise money for Andy, his wife and three children so they could have a holiday in Bridlington together.
She said: “He’s the most loving family man. He said he wanted a week in Bridlington with the children but he has been out of work since he was first diagnosed.
“His wife Heather, has been his carer so she has been in and out of work - it’s been difficult.”
Donna decided to set up a fundraising page with an initial target of £800, but within just five days donations rocketed to over £4,000.
“Andy said he didn’t want to be a charity case at first,” Donna added, “But I explained to him that people wanted to help him because we all love and care for him. Within hours the £800 target had been reached, so I raised it to £1,500 and it kept going up.”
Donna has removed the target amid the outpouring of support in the hope it will help Andy’s family financially.
She said: “I just left it because I didn’t know what to keep upping the target to. It wasn’t about raising as much money as I could, but there’s Christmas coming up. “I don’t want to him to worry about money and he doesn’t want his family to worry.”
