A PUB landlord and members of his staff went back to the scene of their Boxing Day charity dip to spell out their efforts – which raised over £1,000 for a local pre-school.
Gerry Ellis and his team from The Rose And Crown in Flamborough were joined by youngsters from Flamborough Pre-school at South Landing beach on Tuesday morning.
Between them they carved out a huge £1,000 in the sand and decorated it with stones to celebrate their achievement.
They and around 20 others braved the bracing North Sea on Boxing Day in aid of Flamborough Pre-school and when all the promised sponsor money is in the total is expected to be around £1,500.
It is the event’s biggest splash for cash yet.
Last year Gerry raised £750, however this year with the help of his employees they made over £1,000.
Lisa Harper from Flamborough Pre-school said: “Our third Boxing Day Dip has been the biggest and the best yet.
“Each year it has grown in popularity and it has now become part of the festive calendar for the local community.
“This year we have £1,000 from the team at the Rose and Crown and in other sponsorship we hope the final total will be around £1,500, which beats last year’s total of £1,200 which is also about what we made the year before that.
“It is a fantastic achievement and I would like to thank everyone who took part for their continued support.
“The money will go towards buying IT equipment for the Pre-School. However if a local business has any unused computers we would welcome their donations so that this money can be invested in other areas.”
