A well known resident who witnessed first hand the devastating affect World War Two had on Bridlington is to share her story with others.
Residents and visitors alike are invited to come and listen to popular local resident, Delia Smith, talk about VE Day in Bridlington at the town’s central library on Friday, 8 May from 2pm.
Delia will be sharing memories and stories at the free event, and invites others to share their VE Day memories too.
Libby Herbert, libraries, archives and museums service manager, said: “This is a great opportunity for people to find out more about the historical event and ask questions.
“If anybody in the Bridlington area has any VE Day photos to share, please bring them in to Bridlington Local Studies Library in King Street, where staff will carefully take copies and hand back the originals.
“I hope that lots of people will be able to share their photos and memories, so we can create a memorable and enjoyable event in the town for VE Day 2015.”
Delia is also asking for residents to submit their VJ - Victory in Japan celebration pictures.
The afternoon will include a quiz to test knowledge of World War Two, both generally and locally.
