A LOCAL teenager was celebrating after receiving a prestigious award at a recent ceremony.
Danny Cawthorn, 18, won the Outstanding Achievement of the Year gong at the annual awards ceremony for Hull Training, part of Hull City Council, which took place at Hull’s Guildhall in October.
Danny, of Hermitage Road, Bridlington, won the award for his efforts on a mechanical engineering apprenticeship, which sees him work at Flamingo Land and travel to Hull to study at the Faculty of Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies at Hull Training.
A statement from Danny’s teachers, read out at the award ceremony, said: “Many learners have overcome difficulties, personal and work related.
“The outstanding achievement award reflects the apprentice, staff feel have achieved something different going above and beyond all the other positive stories we have throughout the year.
“This year’s outstanding achievement award winner is always polite, pleasant and unafraid to ask for help when required. He has demonstrated determination to complete both theoretical and practical work to a very high standard.
“Danny travels from Bridlington to Hull Training for his day release studies and his employer, Flamingo Land without complaint, regardless of the weather. Learner reviews are always spot on at work, Danny is a genuinely nice lad and a credit to himself.”
