A BRIDLINGTON man has pleaded not guilty to a charge of racially aggravated assault.
Kevin Rugg, 54, of Great Meadow Road, appeared before magistrates in Bridlington last Wednesday.
Mitigating, Nick Clay said that although Mr Rugg had used words that could be described as racist in a disagreement in a public house, they were used as an “intensifier to an argument” and were aimed at a man described as White British.
Prosecutors did not outline their case against Mr Rugg, and magistrates set a trial date of August 16, at 12 noon. Mr Rugg was granted unconditional bail until that time.
