Police have said they will not tolerate attacks on officers after three were hurt as they responded to reports of a man waving a cricket bat,
They were called to Quay Road in Bridlington at around 5pm yesterday to deal with a man behaving in a threatening way.
During the course of the incident two officers were allegedly bitten and kicked and another officer received minor injuries.
A suspect was arrested on suspicion of assault, criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon and is in custody.
Detective Inspector Simon Vickers said: “Yet again, as part of their duties in keeping the public safe, three officers have been injured which is wholly unacceptable.
“We do not and will not stand for this. We do all we can to protect our officers day after day as they carry out their jobs serving the community.
“The officers are receiving support.”
