Humberside Police’s Rural Task Force officers recently joined East Riding of Yorkshire Council flood risk management officers, the RSPCA, and LandPlan contractors for specialist on-site ecology training delivered by Wold Ecology Ltd.

A Wold Ecology spokesman said: “We have been working with wildlife crime units for a number years and we have provided expert advice to numerous police forces.

“We were approached to provide a short training course regarding European protected species, legislation, safe working practices, constraints and the requirement for pre works surveys. The relatively informal session discussed resources in the public domain to identify internationally, regionally and locally important habitats and the protected species local to East and North Yorkshire.”

A police spokesman said in a Facebook Post: “It was great to make new contacts and understand the processes involved when assessing for protected species and habitats.”
