Police have appealed for witnesses after a man sustained a fractured nose when he was assaulted near Bridlington rugby club.

He was on the sports fields near to St Thomas Road and Queensgate at around 8.30pm last Wednesday, when he was attacked and left needing hospital treatment.

Police said a man known to the victim was arrested following the incident.

A Humberside Police spokesman said: "If you saw anything or have information about this incident please call police on 101 quoting crime reference number 16/41412/18. Calls can also be made anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
