Hit and run victim named as cyclist Andrew Williams, of Driffield - police hunt car driver

Police Officers investigating a road traffic collision that resulted in a 51 year-old Driffield man suffering multiple injuries are again appealing for the driver of a dark coloured mid-sized car to come forward to help with their enquiries.

The cyclist, Andrew Williams, was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary by air ambulance from the scene of the collision on Kilham Road, Driffield. Andrew remains in a critical condition with head injuries and a number of fractures to the upper body.

Andrew’s family have released a picture of him in the hope that it will prompt the driver, or anyone who may know the driver, of the vehicle believed to be involved to come forward.

Andrew’s family have also thanked the motorists who did stop to help him following the collision and appealed to anyone else who has any information to make contact with the Police as a matter of urgency.

Andrew was riding a blue Merida Kalahari. The collision happened at approximately 9.50am on Saturday 21 March outside Yorkworld Pigpro on the road between the B1249 and Kilham (known locally as Pockthorpe Lane).

The road was closed until shortly after 1pm on Saturday.
