East Yorkshire church hit by thieves who steal lead from the roof

Around 600 square feet of lead has been stolen from the roof of a church in the village of Sledmere.

Police said the thieves struck some time after 4pm last Monday, when the ppadlock and chain on the gate was removed and cuplrits entered the church yard.

A spokesman said: "If anyone has information that would help recover the lead or knows of anyone handling stolen property please call us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 379 06/10/18."
