A builder with 211 convictions led police on a high-speed pursuit around Bridlington before hitting two police cars in an effort to get free.

Andrew Bage, 45, was reported as a man driving a Vauxhall van through Bridlington on New Year’s Day and set off causing motoring mayhem.

He drove through Bridlington, Carnaby and Kelk striking police cars and at one stage going off road. The police had to launch the Humberside Police helicopter to assist in his capture.

Bage of Main Street, Beeford, pleaded guilty to a charge of driving dangerously and driving while disqualified when he appeared in custody at Hull Crown Court on Monday (March 31).

His barrister Paul Genney said he wanted Bage to have the benefit of a pre sentence report. He said he was in custody and a bail application would be made soon.

Judge Michael Mettyear ordered Bage to stand as he told him: “I will adjourn for a pre-sentence report and in the mean time you will be remanded in custody.”
