Attacked near pub

AN ARGUMENT in a pub which continued outside left a man with facial injuries and a woman with a bruised elbow.

Police are seeking witnesses to the assault which happened on Saturday at the Coachman public house on Hilderthorpe Road, Bridlington.

A 57-year-old man was inside the pub when he became involved in a verbal argument with another man. He then left the pub with a 57-year-old woman when it is alleged the man he had been arguing with pub followed the couple outside and pushed the woman causing her to fall to the floor. He then struck the man from behind, causing him to fall to the ground, before leaving the scene.

As a result the man had a fractured jaw and cuts to his lip which required stitches, and the woman received bruising to her elbow.

Police describe the suspect at white, aged between 30 and 40, around 5ft 10in tall and of stocky build. He had a bald head and was wearing glasses and light coloured clothing.

Detectives investigating the incident would like to anybody who witnessed the assault, or who knows the identity of the offender to contact police on 0845 60 60 222 quoting log 66 of May 21.
