POLICE have appealed for help in tracing a member of the public who helped a man during an alleged assault in the early hours of Sunday.
A 20-year-old man needed hospital treatment for head and facial injuries following the alleged assault which happened on Marshall Avenue between 12.01am and 3am.
The alleged victim was walking with a woman along Marshall Avenue when he was approached by a man he knew.
The man is alleged to have assaulted the 20-year-old causing him to fall to the floor.
As he tried to get up, he was assaulted again when an unknown member of the public, who was walking a dog, came to his assistance and the offender ran away.
The alleged victim attended Scarborough Hospital where he was treated for minor head and facial injuries.
Police have appealed for the member of the public who came to the assistance of the man and anyone who may have information in connection with the incident to call Humberside Police tel 101 quoting crime reference 1921212.
