It’s Monte Carlo or Bust for a Bridlington couple who will travel to the illustrious city in a car they bought for less than £300.
Steve and Angela Lilley, of Cloverley Road, will take to the road in their 17-year-old banger and embark on their 1,088 mile journey for the Monte Carlo or Bust challenge.
“This is not a race,” said 57-year-old Angela. “The aim is to drive to Monte Carlo in three days in a car purchased for no more than £300 and complete various challenges and themed days includiing fancy dress along the way.
The pair have already raised over £1,000 for The Teenage Cancer Trust, their chosen charity.
“Our aim was to originally raise £1,000,” said 58-year-old Steve. “But we have increased it to £2,000 as we have already raised £1,390.”
Steve and Angela have named their team The Bath Bombers and decorated their car with ducks and bubbles as well as applying the names of major sponsors.
Steve added: “We know we are going to have a lot of fun as well as raising money for a very worthwhile cause.
“We would like to thank our sponsors Allsigns, Tim Allsopp Motor Engineers, Ideal Standard, City Plumbing, Hudson Contract, Lloyd Dowson, The Martonian Inn, Ullyotts, Andy Tyres, Ernest Bridham, Hornsea Carpets, DB Lount and Son and everyone else who has sponsored us .”
