A children’s author has included his audience into his latest book by letting a child pick his main character’s name.
Mark Cunningham has just published his fourth book called ‘Peacocky’ which portrays a story of bullying and tackling the issue.
The Flamborough man decided to run a competition at Flamborough School where children were given the chance of deciding the name of the peacock with Mark picking the best one.
Mark said: “Bullying is an issue that I have been wanting to address in my books for a while now and I am glad I have been able to through the animal characters in Peacocky.
“I asked a teacher at the school if they thought it was a good idea and they were very keen to get involved.”
Mark went along to Flamborough Primary School to announce the winner the competition which was won by Jessica from Class six. Jessica’s winning entry was Percy the Peacock.
Mark plans to now go on a break from writing books after publishing four books in the last six months.
Peacocky is available locally in Coffee Hutch at Flamborough and Lodge Books in Bridlington.
