A CHARITY auction and raffle will take place this weekend in honour of a Bridlington woman who lost her battle with breast cancer earlier this year.
The Bridlington Breast Cancer Support Group has organised an auction and raffle which will take place at Rags Restaurant, on South Pier, from 7.30pm on Saturday.
The event will be held in honour of Adele Rudd, who was a member of the support group for several years before she lost her battle with cancer in March of this year aged 47.
Dawn Preston, of the breast cancer support group, said: “We lost Adele in March so we thought let’s do something to honour her and boost funds.”
The auction and raffle will feature a whole host of prizes that have been donated by local businesses, including golf gift vouchers and signed photographs of the Sunderland football team.
And Specsavers, in King Street, has set up a container into which people can donate raffle prizes.
Proceeds from the event, which co-incides with breast cancer awareness month, will go to Breakthrough Breast Cancer – a charity fighting the disease through research, campaigning and education.
Tickets for the event cost £3 each, which will include a free glass of pink fizz, and are available in advance from Rags or on the door on the night.
Tickets do not have to be purchased for the event but will guarantee you a complementary drink.
The support group is a social group aimed at anyone who has experienced breast cancer with current members aged from their mid 30s into their 60s.
Anyone wanting to find out more about the breast cancer support group can simply go along on the night to chat to any one of the 13 members.
Anyone who cannot attend the event but would like to find out more about the group can call Dawn on 07805036993 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
