ANYONE fancying a winter base in Bridlington can hire a beach front chalet for the season.
For the third year running East Riding of Yorkshire Council is letting 41 chalets on South Beach for a 26 week period from this month to March next year.
Bridlington is the only East Riding resort the council offers this facility for visitors to take advantage of some autumn sun, build a snowman on the beach, store fishing gear or just provide a comfortable place to relax.
Almost half of them have already been taken up. The rental fee of £250 will buy your own chalet with two deckchairs, two plastic patio chairs and an electric point for a kettle and the council also throws in a complimentary 2012/13 season pass to Sewerby Hall and Gardens.
The chalets are on Princess Mary Promenade, Belvedere and South Cliff locations and are on a first come, first serve basis.
They are not available for overnight use.
Other chalets in the resort are on longer year round leases, mainly on north shore. After the winter the council said the south shore chalets would be available for summer season short term lets.
According to a spokesman, when the idea was tried two years ago all of them were taken, last year all but one were snapped up.
