Coastguards were sent to Danes Dyke in the early hours of Easter Sunday to help paramedics deal with a casualty with a suspected broken ankle.

The ambulance crew stabilised the injured person, shortly after 2.30am, and the coastguard team helped to carry the stretcher back to the car park.

It came after the team had a received reports on Saturday of people cut off by the time at Selwicks Bay near Flamborough lighthouse.

The operations room received a call reporting people in danger and the coastguards who were on patrol nearby headed to the scene.

Flamborough lifeboat also launched but the group had made their own way to safety so the rescue officers gave safety advice to other people in the area, warning them of the incoming tide.
