The region’s most prestigious series of tourism awards is now taking entrants for 2015.
Open to almost all businesses in the tourism sector, the Welcome to Yorkshire White Rose Awards is the largest celebration of tourism excellence in the UK. It recognises the very best of the industry throughout Yorkshire and this year’s 16 categories cover large and small hotels, pubs, restaurants, events, visitor attractions, visitor information and much more.
Bridlington and surrounding areas has a wealth of contenders and has seen many local entrants in past years with some gaining recognition. Last year the top B & B guest accommodation of the year award went to The Wold Cottage at Wold Newton.
Run by Katrina and Derek Gray, it has been a regular among White Rose Award finalists and in 2014 was awarded the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence.
Applications are now open for this year’s awards and winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in the Autumn.
This year’s independent judging panel is chaired by Colin Mellors, Pro-Vice Chancellor of York University and also includes Elaine Lemm, Food Writer, Nicola Furbisher, Yorkshire Post Managing Editor and customer experience expert Mark Bradley. The panel meet to draw up a short list which will be followed by six weeks of mystery shopping undertaken by specialist companies before the judges make their final decision.
