Bridlington’s branch of Marks and Spencer will close for good this weekend.
Shoppers will have their last chance to visit the store in Prince Street on Saturday, and will then have to travel to Scarborough, Beverley or York to pick up their favourite products.
The company announced the closure earlier this year, describing it as ‘a difficult but necessary decision’.
The Bridlington branch’s 40 staff were offered the chance to transfer to neighboruing stores.
M&S said it had considered factors such as sales performance, profitability and future investment needs before going ahead with the closure.
Scarborough is already hoping to cash in by offering free parking to M&S shoppers from Bridlington.
The Brunswick Centre has been distributing leaflets detailing how to claim two hours’ free parking between April 23 and May 4.
