Five children from Hilderthorpe School took part in the latest Hull and East Yorkshire Children’s University experience.
They went to West Building Supplies, following up from an introduction day to the construction industry at East Riding College earlier this year.
Lisa Whitton, East Riding manager for Hull and East Yorkshire Children’s University said: “I would like to thank the team at West Building Supplies for inviting the five pupils from Hilderthorpe Primary School into their workplace to give them an exclusive insight into the construction industry from the suppliers perspective.
"It was brilliant for them to meet the team and find out about their jobs.
"They also learnt about the materials they deal with each day, from homegrown timber to that from Scandinavia, they also heard how they import materials for local trades.
"The children gained hands-on experience designing bathrooms on the computer, to discovering how West Building Supplies market their products.
"It was truly fascinating afternoon and the children left feeling inspired and more positive about their futures.”
Following the experience, all of the children felt more confident about their futures and want to achieve more in their lives and do better at school.

Simon added: “The best part about today was going to the different branches, designing our own bathroom after looking at all of the different styles of bathrooms, fixture and fitting and also the taps, bathrooms and light-up mirrors.”
Coby said: “I enjoyed seeing all of the different material and goods West Building Supplies have for the construction industry, it was great to see things I haven’t before and how they are used.”
