One of Bridlington's Co-op stores looks set to remain closed for some time while repairs are carried out.

The branch in St John Street shut suddenly over the Easter weekend and the company is taking the opportunity to upgrade it while also addressing structural problems.

A Co-op spokesperson said: “Our store on St John’s Street remains closed whilst we address important structural issues with the building.

"We are also using the closure period as an opportunity to invest in a major store upgrade so that when it reopens later this year, the people of Bridlington can enjoy a new-look Co-op with a brand new lay-out and improved range of healthy fresh food, meal ideas, award-winning wines and essentials.

"The needs of our customers are paramount and we are providing a shuttle bus service every Monday and Friday to take customers from St John’s Street to our sister store at Martongate just a mile and a half away.

"Pick up times are at 10am, midday, 2pm and 4pm.”
