A SELF-MADE millionaire who came to Britain from Africa will speak at a conference in Bridlington in June.

Caroline Marsh, who was born in Lusaka in Zambia, is one of the speakers at the Yorkshire International Business Convention which is being held on the twin sites of Bridlington Spa and Harrogate International Centre on Friday, June 10.

As in previous years, speakers are being flown by helicopter between the two venues.

Mrs Marsh, who now lives with her husband and children in Swindon, is a partner in Platinum Property Partners.

She featured in Channel 4’s The Secret Millionaire programme in which she spent time in Toxteth helping set up community projects.

Convention chief executive Mike Firth said: “The theme of this year’s event is winners and winning and Caroline is living proof that whatever your business background, if you have determination, entrepreneurial spirit and self-belief you can succeed.

“Her story of how she moved from working as a flight attendant with Zambian Express to becoming a property millionaire is truly inspiring, as is the way she has used her own success to help others in many different ways.”

Also speaking at the convention will be Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the man who created the World Wide Web.

The British physicist and entrepreneur changed the lives of billions of people across the globe.

His attendence, and that of Caroline Marsh, adds to the event’s reputation for attracting high-profile names.

Previous speakers have included actor John Cleese and Sir David Frost.
