Bridlington’s Tesco is to stop serving customers over 24 hours as the supermarket giant slashes opening hours across 76 stores nationwide.
Tesco said employees will still stock shelves overnight and disruption to workers will be minimal. The affected stores will closed between 12am and 6am. Tesco retail director Tony Hoggett added: “It makes much more sense for colleagues at those stores to focus on replenishing the shelves instead and making sure they’re fully stocked when they open their doors at 6am. “We’ll continue to make changes in store in ways that will make shopping at Tesco a better experience for our customers, at the times they want to shop.” The changes will take effect between 14th March and 11th April 2016. There will be no other change to the night operation in these shops, so the impact to colleagues is expected to be minimal.
