Bus crash driver in hospital

THE driver of a bus which smashed into the side of Leo’z restaurant on Promenade, Bridlington, is still recovering in hospital after the crash.

The man, thought to be from the Bridlington area and in his 60s, suffered a suspected heart attack at the wheel while driving the 512 bus along Promenade, swerving off the road and into the side of the restaurant on Wednesday, February 8 at around 5.20pm.

Bob Rackley, commercial manager at East Yorkshire Motor Services, said the driver’s “condition had improved, but he was still in Scarborough Hospital”.
