Bridlington Harbour was spared further flooding at high tide this morning after it was submerged during last night’s storm surge.

However many businesses are today dealing with the aftermath of the floods, including fishermen based along Chicken Run.

Electricity along the Chicken Run has gone down following a fire in one of the warehouses last night and it is thought it could take a week to restore power.

The storm surge hit many towns along the East Coast last night, causing major disruption to transport networks and leaving businesses with major clear-up jobs to get underway.

High tide is expected at around 6.30pm today (Friday 6 December) but it is not thought it overtop the harbour to the same extent as last night.
