Bridlington South Ward

ELECTION results for Bridlington South ward have now been announced.

Conservative Councillor Margaret Chadwick edged ahead with 1,235 votes, closely followed by Bridlington’s current Mayor, Labour’s Shelagh Finlay on 1,216 votes, and Conservative Councillor Chad Chadwick in third with 1,175 votes.

In a joint statement, the Chadwicks, who have been married for 27-years, said: “It is just absolutely brilliant, but we have worked hard.

“I want to thank everybody for their support and we promise that we will continue the good work that we have done over the years.”

Coun Shelagh was delighted to have taken a seat formerly held by Conservative Councillor Geoff Pickering.

She said: “I am very pleased for the Labour Party that we have managed to take a seat back on the council where we belong.”
