Police have identified the Bridlington man whose body was recovered from the wreckage of a car below cliffs at Beachy Head last week.

Emergency services were called to headland near Eastbourne in Sussex last Thursday after a car was seen to drive over the clifftops.

Police have confirmed that despite a rescue operation involving coastguards, lifeboat crews and the fire brigade, 81-year-old Kenneth Scollay from Bridlington died in the incident.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said, “His family has been informed and the coroner’s officer is dealing with the incident. His death is not being treated as suspicious.”
