STAFF at a Bridlington care home are in the running for a top national award.

Julie Wood, Fiona Dean and Melanie Tebbett, who work at Hica’s Kirkgate House care home in Bridlington, have reached the regional finals of the Great British Care Awards.

Manager Julie, team manager Fiona, and activities co-ordinator Melanie gained their places in the Yorkshire and Humberside regional finals of the awards after being nominated by Hica.

Julie, Fiona and Melanie are finalists in the Putting People First category, and have worked for Hica for 14, nine and nearly three years respectively.

Julie told the Free Press that they were honoured to have made it to the finals of the competition and it had been a real team effort.

“I’m absolutely delighted that we have got to the finals of the competition, especially in the putting people first category. We strive to achieve this and it’s a great honour to be put forward for the finals,” she said.

The winners will be announced at a gala awards evening at the National Railway Museum, York on November 9.
