THERE has been a breakthrough in Bridlington’s long running regeneration saga after a planning inspector’s report has ruled the Area Action Plan to be sound.
In the only significant change to the plan, planning inspector Sian Worden has asked that the development of the harbour top - long a sticking point between East Riding council and Bridlington Harbour Commissioners - be removed from the Burlington Parade development, which will see a new retail area established along Hilderthorpe Road.
The development of the harbour top remains part of a marina proposal, which will be delivered in a further phase of the Area Action Plan.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s AAP had been scrutinised by inspector Sian Worden at two public hearings in December 2011 and May this year.
Now that her report has been released, East Riding council can now move on to preparing planning applications to deliver the project.
