Annette Pickering, who works at Greenwoods Menswear, said: “I heard a massive bang and thought a lorry had crashed. I ran to the door and could only see bits of debris so I didn’t think it was that serious at a first glance.”

A cordon is expected to remain in place over night, whilst further safety checks are undertaken and to ensure the public are kept safe.

The cordon and road closures have caused disruption in the area and police would like to thank the public for their patience.
