Boxing Day assault in Old Town

POLICE are seeking witnesses to an assault that took place in Bridlington High Street at approximately 10pm on Boxing Day.

A 55-year-old woman was out with family when she was approached in the street by a woman who she knew.

It is alleged that a verbal dispute took place between the two women and then some pushing and shoving ensued.

A short time later a man, also known to the victim, is alleged to have become involved in the dispute and either pushed or punched the 55-year-old woman, causing her to fall to the floor and sustain bruising to the lower back, hand and arms.

She attended Scarborough Hospital for treatment but was not detained.

A 50-year-old man was arrested in connection with the assault and was released on police bail following interview.

Police would like to hear from any independent witnesses to the assault and ask that anyone with information contact Humberside Police on the non emergency number 101 referring to log 557 of December 26.
