Sisters Belle and Amelia Waines made a remarkable gesture to help children less fortunate than themselves.

They had several inches cut off their long hair last week so that it can be used to make wigs for youngsters who have lost their own hair through cancer.

The girls, aged 10 and seven, decided to go through with the haircut after reading about The Little Princess Trust.

Mum Leah said: “Both my girls have always had long gorgeous hair and they both cherish their locks.

“The idea came after my eldest daughter saw an article about the charity.

“It touched her heart that when a child gets cancer, they also have to face possibly losing all their hair and she wanted to do something to help.”

Leah has set up an online page and it has already passed the £100 target, reaching £265 by Tuesday.

“They have been blown away with people’s kindness and we’re all very grateful,” added Leah.
