Be quick if you want a poppy - they are selling out fast

We are selling poppies faster than we can get new ones delivered.

With more than 1,000 now on display around the town, supplies are running low at our stockists.

Veterans at the war memorial in Bridlington.

Poppies are now available from The Ship Inn at Sewerby and Heather’s Simply Vintage in Old Town, as well as Oops A Daisy Florist in Quay Road, for a minimum donation of £3 to the Royal British Legion.

But we are running low on numbers and we’re not sure when the next delivery will be at the warehouse to be brought to Bridlington. So, if you want one, don’t delay.

The Ship at Sewerby has also announced that this year’s charity bonfire and firework extravaganza will be in aid of the Bridlington Poppy Appeal.

The bonfire will be lit at 6:30pm on November 5, and the fireworks display starts at 7:15pm.

Anyone wishing to host a food or charity stall at the event can contact 07882 096895.

Last week, the Free Press joined Bridlington Poppy Appeal organiser George Collins to put up some of the poppies which have been donated to the community.

As part of the campaign, we encouraged people to buy an extra poppy when picking one up for their own home. We put these donated poppies up along the seafront on the north side, at

East Riding Leisure Bridlington, on the town hall gates, in Pembroke Gardens and we donated a couple to the Yorkshire Belle.

We will be taking a few more to prominent locations in the next few weeks, and will be taking a poppy to every local school.
