A BOOK written but then left to one side ten years ago has been published after a local man enlisted the help of a Bridlington book shop.

Andrew Milner, 41, has recently published his first novel, A Far Reaching Dream and is already working on two follow-ups.

Andrew, originally from Leeds but now of Neptune Road, Bridlington, said: “I used to be in bands and write songs and when that stopped, I started writing a book just to keep my brain working I think.

“I finished it but then I just never bothered with it, until now. I saw an article in the Free Press about Lodge Books and other local authors who were getting help being published there so I went along.”

The book tells the story of a young woman whose dreams are haunted by messages from her boyfriend, who died on the day she made a big confession to him.

Now Andrew has a second book almost finished and a third in the pipeline, which he works on alongside a full time job.

He continued: “Once you see your book in your hands, and you start to sell a few copies and get the feedback, it is a good feeling and it’s encouraged me to keep writing.

“The two books I’m working on have a similar tone, but are about different subjects. I’m just enjoying being able to write.”

And he says that the help that Lodge Books - which opened on South Back Lane last August and gives local authors tips on self publishing while stocking their books - was invaluable.

“I think it’s great that there is something like that in Bridlington, Susan at the shop was a big help,” continued Andrew, who has three children aged 23, 17 and 10.

“They say everyone has a book in them, so hopefully local authors who hadn’t published their work before might be encouraged to now.”
