Civil engineering company Jones Bros has successfully completed the Fraisthorpe wind farm.

The wind farm was energised a day ahead of schedule and is now generating enough clean energy to power almost 22,500 homes.

Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK also constructed a substation, high voltage switch yard, and 5,000 kilometres of off-site underground cabling, which included micro drilling and pipe jacking under the Yorkshire coast line railway.

The wind farm features powerful 3.3MW Vestas V112 turbines, with a total capacity of 29.7MW and was the first ever order placed in the UK market for the V112.

James Lockwood, Jones Bros project manager, said: “The scheme has gone extremely well and also provided a great boost for contractors in the area, as well as several of our apprentices who gained valuable work experience.”
