THE ROYAL Bridlington last week played host to Jennie Rayment who led a three day masterclass in quilting.
Guests on the courses visited the town from all over the UK, some from as far north as the West Highlands of Scotland.
During the three days all of the attendees almost completed three complicated quilts and met up with some fellow quilters.
In the near future the Royal, on Shaftesbury Road, will be hosting quilting sessions with Lllian Hedley, Dawn Cameron-Dick, Katharin Guerrier, Gail Lawther and Ferret.
Fiona Garth, director at the Royal, said: “We all really had an amazing time, learned so much and got so much done – Jennie was an absolute pleasure to work with so much so that we have invited her back for another retreat the same time in 2014.”
Margaret Hockney, sister of world famous artist David, said on Twitter: “Had a really useful 2 days fun quilting workshop with Jennie Rayment at The Royal Bridlington – delicious food breaks.”
One visitor Morag, from Lochailort in Scotland, said: “When I found The Royal Bridlington I could not believe the wide range of quilting courses on offer, all of which were led by well-known teachers.
“After a long train journey I had a warm welcome, a comfortable bed, excellent food and the company of other quilters – now friends. Then there was the teacher Jennie, endlessly sharing her knowledge and entertaining us with stories.”
