OVER 3,000 people attended the Michaelmas Fair at Burton Agnes Hall to celebrate the start of darker evenings.
Over Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 October a street fair of Yorkshire food and craft stalls offered a range of produce for visitors to browse, with entertainment from the Flamborough Sword Dancers and morris dancers.
A pumpkin trail was arranged for the younger visitors, and an organist provided music throughout the day.
Anna Briggs, marketing and events manager at Burton Agnes Hall, said: “It went really well even though the weather wasn’t fabulous.
“It was really jolly and everyone was getting ready for Christmas.”
Michaelmas is the traditional feast of St. Michael which falls on the autumnal equinox and marks the end of the farming year and the coming of dark nights.
