East Yorkshire tops destination poll for UK ‘dog friendly holidays’
East Yorkshire has been named as the place to be when it comes to dog-friendly holidays.
The area beat other tourism hotspots such as the Peak District, Cornwall, Cotswold and the Lake District to the top position in a new survey.
With online searches for ‘dog friendly holidays’ up 420%, East Yorkshire could be set for a boom in furry visitors, the poll found.
According to the data from pet-care brand Bob Martin, its findings suggest holidaymakers will be making the most of the Great British Summer with their furry friends in tow this year.
Julie Butcher, head of marketing at Bob Martin, said: “A lot of us might want to flee the UK for holidays when lockdown ends, but with the rise in pet ownership, particularly among Millennials, this might prove tricky for those of us who bought a pandemic pet over lockdown.
“Millennials perhaps wouldn’t have usually considered a staycation. But, as evidence shows, the majority of the UK will be flocking to nearby beaches and the countryside, such as East Yorkshire, in large numbers this year, more so than ever before.”
