Liz Collins, Interim Managing Director for TransPennine Express, said: “The decision to run this revised timetable has been made to allow TransPennine Express to concentrate on maintaining a core service across all routes that we serve, as well as providing a consistent and reliable service for those who still need to use our services.

“These are truly extraordinary times and I’d like to thank our customers who are still travelling with us. I’d also like to thank all my colleagues who are working extremely hard to provide a service for those that need it.

“As a company, we will continue to follow the advice that is given to us by Public Health England and the Rail Delivery Group and we will continue to keep our customers updated on any changes as we go through this challenging time."

There will also be a two-hourly service between Hull and Manchester Piccadilly.

Northern Rail is cancelling its Hull and Bridlington, which would be served by Scarborough services instead.

Today, Sunday, the Scarborough – Doncaster service is reduced to two hourly – customers can use Hull – Doncaster services.

A spokesman for Northern Railway said: “At this time there are no restrictions on rail and public transport travel (although Government are asking for the general public to reduce this where possible).

“We have a robust plan in place for cleaning our trains. This includes the removal of litter throughout the day and to ensure all surfaces are cleaned on a regular basis.

“On-board our trains and at stations, where facilities exist, there is soap and water available in our toilets for customers to follow NHS advice to wash their hands for 20 seconds.

“If you come across a toilet with no soap, please alert a member of staff immediately.”
