Opening hours change at East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s community response hub
The dedicated telephone number for the community response hub has changed its opening hours due to the falling number of requests for help.
The community response hub was launched by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, working alongside the HEY Smile Foundation and the local voluntary and community groups that were established in a response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The operating hours of the telephone number are now between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
The aim of the community response hub was to provide an additional avenue of support for those people across the East Riding who did not have a network of family, friends, neighbours or carers to call upon if they needed help or support.
Since its launch, almost 13,500 people have called the dedicated 01482 393919 telephone number with requests for help with food, shopping, medication or just wanting someone to talk to and at the height of the pandemic, around 400 calls were being received a day.
Councillor Richard Burton, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “The community response hub has played a key role in the council’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“But as the lockdown is starting to ease the number of COVID-19 cases have started to drop, calls to the hub have reduced significantly so the council have taken the decision to change the opening times.
“I would like to reassure all residents though that, despite the reduced hours, the hubs will still be operating and those who still need the help and support will be able to access what they need.”
