Burlington Infant School is celebrating after Ofsted inspectors described it as a happy and caring school, in which pupils are thriving.
Ofsted has ruled that the school continues to be ‘good’ in all areas, including overall effectiveness, following its recent inspection.
The inspectors praised the ‘inspirational leadership’ of headteacher, Mari-Louise Booth, which they said sets a positive tone for the school and ensures that all pupils make the best of the learning opportunities available.
Mrs Booth said: “I am so delighted with this report. I feel incredibly lucky to be headteacher at this wonderful school and I am so proud of Burlington. The staff here are just fantastic - they all work so hard and genuinely care about every child - I’m so pleased Ofsted recognised this and praised everyone so highly. The parents and governors are so supportive of everything we do and Burlington really does feel like one big, happy family.
“The inspectors had so many lovely things to say about the children - how well they behave, how nicely they work and play together, how enthusiastic they are about learning and what good progress they make and, most importantly, how much they love their school! They are little stars and I am so proud of them all.”
Teaching is described as good and sometimes outstanding, enabling pupils to make good progress and achieve well.
The report says highly effective teaching assistants are speeding up the pupils’ progress by providing well-targeted support in and out of the classroom.
Parents are overwhelmingly positive about the school, and the headteacher and governing body have a clear understanding of what it does well, and where it could do better.
Councillor Julie Abraham, East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s portfolio holder for children, young people and education, said: “I would like to congratulate everyone at Burlington Infant School for retaining their ‘good’ judgement. Ofsted has consistently raised the bar and retaining good has to be the result of lots of hard work. Burlington Infant School is firmly established as a school that we are all proud of.”
