Fifty more students at Bridlington School to self-isolate due after youngster tests positive for Covid

Students in a fourth year group at an East Coast school have been asked to self-isolate because of coronavirus.

Yesterday (Tuesday), 50 pupils in Year 9 at Bridlington School were asked to stay at home after a student in that year group tested positive for the disease.

All students in Years 8, 12 and 13 at the school are already self-isolating after two other pupils received positive test results.

Pupils in Year 7, Year 10, Year 11 and 140 Year 9 students are still expected to attend school.

The school posted on social media yesterday afternoon: "Today we have received confirmation that a member of Year 9 has tested positive for Covid-19.

"Fifty students in Year 9 have been identified as direct contacts and are required to self-isolate.

"Parents and carers of the 50 Year 9 students have been informed.

"If you are unsure if your child needs to self-isolate or you have any queries please contact the school on [email protected]."

Years 8, 12 and 13 were all told to self-isolate last weekend.

Years 12 and 13 are expected back at school on Monday, November 23, while Year 8 are expected back on Friday, November 20.

The 50 Year 9 students who have been contacted are expected back in school on Tuesday, November 24.
