Auction features early glass negatives and photography
A fascinating collection of glass negatives will be one of the star lots at an auction sale near York on Saturday.
Matt Harris, an auctioneer and valuer at Wombells, Upper Poppleton, said: “We’ve had a collection of 6x4 inch glass plate negatives brought into us for the next sale - probably around 100 in total.
“They are all c1920, and while many cover the typical range of family portraits, household interiors and still life, there are several which are more interesting - three pictures of early cine cameramen, two outside “Humfriese Film Productions Beauty of Britain Series” cars, a series of six or so depicting an “Aircraft Transport & Travel Ltd” airline plane and crew, again involving a movie camera and a still of I think the Royal Scots Greys mounted in line in service dress.
There are also 20 or so various nudes and artistic figure studies.
